A Beautiful evening in October. Terry Bradshaw came back to Pittsburgh that evening. Manning and the Colts got lit up that evening by our defense.
This past season was the first time Manning has won against the Steelers in three attempts. Can we put pressure on him today and rattle him? That is the question. Here we go Steelers, here we go...

Porter Comments On Colts!

Joey Porter started the smack talking yesterday by saying that the Colts are not as physical as the Steelers, and they do not want to get into a "smash mouth" game with us.

"They don't want to play smashmouth football," Porter said. "They want to trick you. They want to do the hurry-up offense. They want to try to catch you substituting. They don't want to just call a play, get up there (and) run a play. They want to make you think."

"I don't think they out-hit us," he said. "If they would have out-hit us, they would have just lined up and not done all those audibles every play. If you want to out-hit us, line up and play football. Line up, you got your people, we got our eight men in the box, run the ball.
"Don't try to run the ball when we're in the 3-2 Sub ("Dime") package. That's not out-hitting us; that's trying to out-think us. Now you're trying to play the guessing game."

Edgerrin James ran for 124 yards Nov. 28, ending the Steelers' streak of 22 games not allowing a 100-yard rusher. He carried 29 times and did not have a carry longer than 10 yards. But Porter even scoffed at that accomplishment.
"I still think it was a cheap 100."

Chomping away on a dried-out cigar butt, Hank Williams Jr. stood out like a 20-gallon hat Wednesday at the Steelers' practice facility. The country music star huddled with old friend Bill Cowher, smacked hands with various Steelers players and kicked back in the rear of a sprawling sports utility vehicle.
And if there was any doubt about which NFL franchise was his favorite, Williams made it clear when someone asked if the Steelers topped the list.
"Hell yeah, baby," Williams said, proudly pointing to the Steelers cap he plans to wear Sunday when his beloved team plays at Indianapolis in an AFC divisional playoff game at the RCA Dome. "What are you talking about?"
Flamboyant and effervescent as ever, the man known as Bocephus, sporting big black boots and a faded cowboy hat, called his visit here a "pleasure trip."
Hours earlier, he was on a "very, very serious and much more important trip."
Williams flew from his home outside of Nashville, Tenn., to Morgantown, W.Va., yesterday to comfort the family members of Randal McCloy Jr., the only survivor of the Sago mine explosion in Upshur County, W.Va., that killed 12 of his co-workers.
McCloy is in critical but stable condition in West Virginia's Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Williams got news of McCloy's plight when it was reported that one of McCloy's family members used his music in an attempt to get through to the struggling miner. Soon after, Williams was on a plane.
"Because Bocephus don't drive, baby!," he said.
Williams spent yesterday morning with McCloy, even appearing on Good Morning America sporting the Steelers cap, to let his family members know that miracles can happen.
Williams is proof.
Thirty years ago, the legendary star, who sang the Monday Night Football theme for 16 years, fell 500 feet from a mountain in Montana. He endured nine surgeries - "I still need one more," he said. - though many still believed that he would not survive.
"When that happened to me, Johnny Cash and June Carter were there when I came to," said Williams, a victim of an avalanche that left his brain partially exposed. "They said I wasn't going to live, but I did. And I was really affected by this, here situation. To think that this gal goes over and buys this tape and she's playing my music in his room ... It really knocked me down. I saw it on the national news and it really affected me, man, I'm not kidding you. It brought that all back."
Now, Williams wants to bring McCloy back.
"They said the same things to me - I wasn't going to do this and I wasn't going to do that," Williams said. "So, I had to go see him. And I'll be back when he pulls out of it, because everybody's pulling for him. It's such a tragedy, and this is my area -- West Virginia, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh. I sold a few T-shirts and CDs around here in the last 35 years. I bought a few shotgun shells with the money from here."
Williams' loyalty to the region is revealed in his love of the Steelers. His association with Cowher began in the 1980s, when the latter was an assistant in Kansas City. Williams was close to former Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas, who toured the country with him in his offseasons, and three became friends.
"I know Russ (Grimm) and Dick (Hoak), too," Williams said of two of Cowher's assistants. "We're kind of like a bunch of dinosaurs. Well, not Bill. He's a young guy."
Williams claims the Steelers are undefeated when he attends a game, which is why he and all his rowdy friends will be there Sunday afternoon, even though the Steelers are underdogs.
"In the NFL, anybody can beat anybody," he said. "There's none of that if stuff. Look at what (Joe) Gibbs is doing in Washington. If I was Seattle, I would be, 'huh?' The thing is, dome teams don't win. Think about it. Now, we got two of them. Dome teams just don't win."
As for seating arrangements at the RCA Dome, Williams isn't picky. He's waiting for Steelers president Art Rooney II to come through for him.
"Wherever Art puts me is fine," Williams said. "Maybe I'll sit with Jerome's mom. I don't care. I'm a redneck. I got a helmet with horns sticking out of it, man."

What Could Possibly Make You Become A Bungles Fan?

I have thought long and hard about this question. The Bungles have had one of the worst professional franchises in all of sports. It has only been recently that Marvin Lewis has started to turn this around. Hats off to Marvin. He is former Steelers assistant coach and a Western PA native. Last week in preparing to watch the Steelers/Bungles I went online and looked at the Bungles web site and even looked at a Cincy newspaper to see what was being said in the opposing town. I picked up on a lot of resentment and a genuine dislike for the Steelers. It was really odd to see this type of strong feeling involved in a sporting contest. In my opinion it is not even really a rivalry other than the fact that it was an old AFC Central and now an AFC North opponent. This is not a "rivalry"! Our rival is the Cleveland Browns. This is the turnpike rivalry, we all know it by heart. Do I hate the Browns, the answer is no. I actually admire them and their fans, I just do not cheer for them. Back to the Bungles. Why is there this hostility towards our franchise and city? The Baltimore fans hate us in the same respect. They hate us almost as much as they enjoy cheering for their own teams. So what is up with Bungles and Ravens fans? Jealousy? Perhaps, but that is not the real reason. I think the reason why these two fan bases have such resentment towards the Steelers Nation is that they actually dislike themselves. They hate the fact that in times of losing seasons they can not sell out their stadiums and we invade their stadiums and turn them into Heinz Field East or West. They hate the fact that even in good years they can not prevent their season ticket holders from selling their tickets for a profit to Steelers fans. This is the real reason why they hate the Steelers Nation, it is actually the fact that they really dislike their own fans but are not intelligent to think it all they way through and see where the real blame lies. Enough said. Bring on the Colts!

Cowher Power!

We simply know it as "Cowher Power"! He is known as Bill Cowher. Cowher just completed his 14th season as the Steelers head man . During his tenure with the Steelers he has qualified for the post season 10 out of the 14 seasons. The four seasons he failed to guide the Steelers to the playoffs our records were 6-10(2003), 9-7(2000), 6-10(1999), and 7-9(1998). Only three losing season in 14 seasons, and only missing the playoffs four times in 14 seasons. This is Cowher Power! His regular season coaching record is 141-82-1. 9-9 in the playoffs and 0-1 in the Super Bowl. What makes this even more impressive is that he is averaging ten wins a season. That really makes you look close at the numbers. The one glaring omission right now is the ring. We all know this, and hopefully we can get a fifth Lombardi trophy for the Rooney family, and a ring for Mr. Cowher! Cowher Power!

Gameballs...

Gameballs this week go to our field general Big Ben and Cedric Wilson. Ben played perhaps his best game in a Steelers uniform on Sunday, and Wilson got his first touchdown as a Steeler on a trick play in the second half where he caught a 54 yard bomb from Ben. Ben finished the day with 14 of 19 completions for 208 yards and three touchdown passes. Wilson finished the day with three catches for 104 yards and his first touchdown.

Both live in Baltimore, but Kim is originally from Indiana, Pa and Joanna Downer from Greenville, PA. The second pic is Kim, Joanna, Pat Bind, and myself. Pat is lives in Baltimore but is from Latrobe, Pa. Yes, That is an IC Light in Kim's hand. She was doing the "Burgh thang".

Here someone has put a twist on the James Harrison/Cleveland Browns fan incident in Cleveland a couple of years ago. Charles says he is a die hard Bills fan, but I believe he may be a closet Steelers fan as well.

Contest Winner(s) Announced

The "Celebrate The Holidays With Your Steelers" contest officially ended today. First place goes to Brooke Podlaszewski showing her Steelers pride in visiting Santa for the first time. Runners up awards go to Hayden McLaughlin and Maddie Keller. Hayden and Maddie both were sporting Big Ben jerseys and trying their best to look like number seven. Sights From The Last Home Game This Season...

One Last Dance For # 36

Jerome Bettis will go down in Steelers history as one of the great Steelers. He is a fan favorite, and he is a role model for all young Steelers fans. I know that many in the Steelers Nation consider him their favorite Steeler. It was great to see the big guy go out on such a positive note on Sunday. He may have not had a career day in rushing yards, but he did match his career high in rushing touchdowns for a game. He finished the afternoon with ten attempts for 41 yards and three scores. This may have been the last time we get to see him play in Heinz Field, but hopefully this Bus will make four more stops with the last one being in Detroit. Celebrate The Holidays With Your Steelers Entry # 10

Gameballs...

Gameballs were handed out to Antwaan Randle El and Jerome Bettis. Our special teams play yesterday was the difference in the game. Our offense and defense played with little emotion during the afternoon, but our special teams play added the spark we needed to pull out a win. Randle El returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown which set the tone for the day, and Bettis provided us with three scores on the afternoon to bring his career touchdown total to 91.
